Description
Microsatellite Instability Analysis
Colorectal – STR
Blood, NA, Fasting or Non Fasting: As suggested by doctor
Sample Required:
FFPE colorectal tissue block OR fresh tissue in DCGL Preservative Solution at 2–8°C PLUS 6–10 mL whole blood in EDTA tube at 15–30°C
Test Time:
Sample and biopsy dependent. Report typically available in 8–12 working days.
Test Normal Range:
No fixed normal range; results indicate MSI-high or MSI-stable status.
What is the Test?
A CE-marked STR-based test that evaluates microsatellite instability (MSI) in colorectal cancers. MSI status helps identify mismatch repair (MMR) deficiency and predicts response to immunotherapy.
Test Procedure:
Tumour and matched blood DNA are analysed using STR markers to compare instability across microsatellite regions.
When to Take the Test:
At diagnosis of colorectal cancer or when planning immunotherapy.
Who Should Take This Test:
Patients with colorectal cancer where MSI status influences treatment planning.
Precautions for Exceptional Cases (Pregnancy, etc.):
Ensure tissue adequacy; disclose pregnancy; avoid blood draw immediately after transfusion.
