Sample Required:
FFPE brain tumour tissue block OR fresh tissue in DCGL Preservative Solution at 2–8°C.
Test Time:
Biopsy-dependent. 8–12 working days.
Test Normal Range:
No fixed normal range.
What is the Test?
A PCR-based test that detects MGMT promoter methylation, a key prognostic marker in gliomas influencing response to alkylating agents.
Test Procedure:
DNA from tumour tissue is analysed using methylation-specific PCR.
When to Take the Test:
At initial diagnosis of gliomas to guide prognosis and chemotherapy choice.
Who Should Take This Test:
Patients with brain tumours, particularly glioblastoma.
Precautions for Exceptional Cases (Pregnancy, etc.):
Ensure tissue preservation; disclose pregnancy before biopsy.
